I'm not good at late mornings--I get grumpy and frazzled, the guys don't seem to understand my need for all that 'extra' time and the groove of my routine to get the brain functioning. I muddled through, got everyone fed, dressed, off to the bus, out the door to work, managed a quick work out, got the bills paid, a few errands run, a short list of chores checked off, and--whew! I'm here!!
I don't have a whole lot to share for RJD today since I've had a rotten headache the past three days and I neglected my prayer journal, just trying to make it through the day without retreating back to bed and hiding under the covers. I had planned to work on my post yesterday until I discovered the ridiculous genius of an envelope punch board and went to town making oodles of groovy envies to play with for my mail art swaps and fun! Yeah, there went an entire day out the window (and planning to play more this afternoon! Haha!) Look what I made!
Envelopes made from a story book, maps, magazines, brochures, and a Chinese take out menu! |
Yeah, shiny objects...Anyway, my headache did finally let up late yesterday, a wee bit stuffy this morning, but nothing unbearable--and I was so excited from Bible study this morning to find a few more verses to doodle--this has really become my joy lately! (And envie making...help me!)
Here's a couple quick Scripture doodles from my prayer journal (this is supposed to be about the journaling!! So sorry...)
Oh, I hope you feel well all day, my friend! I LOVED the envelope you sent me...I need to make those. And I so love your scrioture doodless. Remember the link is up all weekend so sleeping in is FINE by me, my friend! You bless us with your gifts of beautiful pages!
ReplyDeleteGet yourself one of the envelope punch boards--got mine at Michael's for $12 after a 40% coupon. It's so genius, you won't believe it!! No paper is sacred now--everything is being turned into envies!! :D
DeleteDawn: I enjoy your enthusiasm. I, too, have times of not sleeping and then sleeping in. Easter Sunday, I awoke at 2:15 and couldn't get back to sleep. I surprised my friend who had the Sonrise service at 7:30. I stayed for the 8:30 worship service and the Easter breakfast at 9:30. I came home and was awake until late in the night. Today was one of my late rising morning.
ReplyDeleteOh Cecelia, I am not a pleasant person when I don't sleep well--sad to say :( I seem to go through spurts of really great sleep, then these sleepless wonders...Sounds like you had a great Easter morning, though! :)
DeleteI REALLY want to learn how to doodle the way you do. I'm so inspired. Every time I try, it just looks like my plain ol' handwriting enlarged. These could be framed.
ReplyDeleteYou're so kind! It's really all about practice, practice, practice. I've taken a few lettering courses, have half a dozen lettering books--I just absolutely love lettering! Keep playing, explore different lettering styles you like and even use tracing paper to go over and replicate ones you love to get the feel of the letterforms. Check out Joanne Sharpe's website, http://joannezsharpe.blogspot.com/ She has some super fun classes that are reasonably priced and you can't help but love her spirit! :)
DeleteI can so relate, I have many nights where I can't sleep and many days where I want to sleep in.
ReplyDeleteAh--those nights are so rough!! I love my sleep! Haha! :)
DeleteDawn- First of all...I love your envies and that you spent a day making them... an artist's work should never be done :) I'm gonna have to check out this tool! And your Scripture doodles INSPIRE me to add doodling to my Scripture meditations...thanks for being YOU!
ReplyDeleteAww--thanks Kel! :)
